The Department of Phytosanitary Expertise and Plant Quarantine is a diagnostic, advisory and methodological center for phytosanitary diagnostics in the Novosibirsk region.
The department provides integrated services for researching regulated objects, establishing the phytosanitary state of regulated products, testing, mastering and introducing new diagnostic methods into laboratory practice.
Thanks to the work of the department’s specialists, every year it is possible to prevent the entry of dangerous quarantine organisms into the territory of the Russian Federation. Specialists of the department monitor the territory of the Novosibirsk region using pheromone and color traps.
The department carries out diagnostics of pests, pathogens of plants, nematodes.
The department’s specialists also conduct surveys to determine the phytosanitary condition of open and closed ground crops, land, greenhouses, as well as warehouses and other agricultural premises.
Types of examinations:
For entomological examination, the department is equipped with modern optical devices. Identification of insects is carried out by microscopy according to morphological characters using reference and methodological literature, identifiers, and insect collections.
Diagnostics of quarantine and non-quarantine weeds is carried out according to the morphological characteristics of vegetative plants, seeds and fruits found during the study of the phytosanitary state of regulated articles and territory surveys. The express method for determining the viability of quarantine weed seeds by staining the seed germ is actively used.
It is carried out to identify and identify quarantine species of cyst-forming, gall, and stem nematodes, as well as to identify and identify the pine stem nematode in forest products, lumber and wooden containers made from conifers.
Each year, experts monitor the territory of the Novosibirsk Region, conduct an examination of soil samples, which allows you to establish the exact boundaries of the foci of distribution, and also helps to prevent the emergence of new infection sites.
It is carried out with the aim of diagnosing seed and planting material to identify quarantine pathogens of fungal diseases, to determine the species composition of the complex of phytopathogens in quarantine materials, as well as to monitor the territory of the region for the presence of quarantine fungal diseases.
Bacteriological examination is carried out in order to identify the causative agents of bacteriosis in samples of quarantine material.
For the purpose of timely detection of bacterial diseases of plants, fast and reliable methods of rapid diagnosis - PCR are used.
The Plant Quarantine Department is fully equipped with equipment and materials for conducting all types of quarantine phytosanitary examinations, collections and reference materials, as well as regulatory documents and guidelines.
