FEDERAL STATE BUDGETARY INSTITUTION "CENTRAL
SCIENTIFIC AND METHODICAL VETERINARY LABORATORY "
Diagnostic Department

The diagnostic department includes a wide range of diagnostic studies of infectious animal diseases, including:

- the study of pathological material for the diagnosis of rabies in animals, including methods of fluorescent antibodies and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, bioassays on white mice;

- PCR diagnostics of pathological material, biomaterial from agricultural, non-productive, wild and commercial animals and birds, as well as products of animal and plant origin, aimed at identifying pathogens of various infections, including especially dangerous ones (anthrax, brucellosis, African swine fever, etc.);

- the study of blood serum from animals by enzyme immunoassay to identify antigens of pathogens and antibodies to pathogens of viral and bacterial etiology;

- serological studies (agglutination reaction , complement fixation reaction ,rose bengal test, hemagglutination inhibition, immunodiffusion test,diffuse precipitation reaction) of material from animals and birds to determine antibodies to causative agents of brucellosis, infectious epididymitis, leukemia, leptospirosis, listeriosis, chlamydia, paratuberculosis, parainfluenza-3, ornithosis, glanders, random disease, infectious anemia of horses, equine flu, parvovirus infection of pigs, Newcastle disease, toxoplasmosis, as well as hides in the precipitation reaction to anthrax;

- diagnosis of trichinosis by microscopic (compressor) and biochemical (digestion) methods, as well as in vivo by examining blood serum from pigs by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA);

- study of the material for invasive diseases of bees, such as varroatosis, nosematosis, bruleza and acarapidosis;

- pathomorphological diagnosis of viral hemorrhagic disease of rabbits;

- study of material from all species of animals and birds for parasitic diseases (helminthiases, cysts of pathogenic protozoa, animal pyroplasmoses, etc.);

Other studies:

- tests of feed, feed additives, food products, etc. for the presence of genetically modified sources (GMI);

- determination of the species affiliation of ruminant tissues, chicken and pig in raw materials and products of animal and vegetable origin;

- histological identification of products of animal origin, determining the composition of meat products to assess the quality of raw meat and meat products and their compliance with the regulatory document, based on the identification of animal and plant components (protein and carbohydrate) in accordance with their microstructural features, allowing to assess the quality of the product and establish falsification;

- Sanitary and parasitological studies of environmental objects (soil, manure, storm and household sewage, organic fertilizers, etc.).

Employees of the department successfully participate in interlaboratory comparative trials organized by Russian providers: FSBI VGNKI, FSBI VNIIKR and others, confirming the correctness and accuracy of the studies (diagnosis of viral, bacterial and parasitic diseases of animals).

Thanks to being equipped with modern testing and auxiliary equipment, the department is able to provide reliable test results and ensure the confidentiality of information received under the current legislation.

For research, the department is equipped with the following equipment:

- Gemini enzyme immunoassay analyzer - is a fully automated microplate analyzer that performs a complete analysis of samples (preliminary dilution of samples, dispensing of samples and reagents, incubation, washing of plates and its transportation), as well as photometric measurements and evaluation;

-measurement module as part of a thermal cycler for amplification of nucleic acids CFX96 C1000 Touch, (Bio-Rad Laboratories Inc. USA) provides PCR with the ability to register reaction products in real time .;

- spectrophotometer INFINITE® 200 TECAN Tecan (Austria) for enzyme immunoassay;

Carl Zeiss Axio Lab microscope with a digital camera for reporting and saving high-quality images to a computer;

- Cryomicrotome MCM-3500 automatic for histological studies, including the accelerated method.
