In the department conduct research on the following diseases: African swine fever, classical swine fever, avian influenza, Schmallenberg disease, anthrax, psittacosis, chlamydia, leptospirosis, listeriosis, salmonellosis, BLUETONGUE, leukemia, infectious rhinotracheitis, viral diarrhea, brucellosis, Newcastle disease, Gumboro disease, respiratory-reproductive syndrome of pigs, mycoplasmosis. Also conduct research on GMOs and species identification of animal tissues.

The Department of Molecular Studies is a young, promising, developing department that is an integral part of the Institution. The main research method is the polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The Department of Molecular Studies is engaged in laboratory research within the framework of the state assignment program and monitoring studies on the detection of viral and bacterial diseases, as well as on the detection of GMOs in feed, grain, products of its processing, seeds.

To confirm its competence, the department participates in international comparative tests, the providers of which are: FSBI VGNKI, FAPAS, FSBI ARRIAH.

The department is equipped with the necessary equipment, reagents, test systems. Every year, department employees undergo advanced training.
